Peter Pullen of Dayton Dunbar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Peter Pullen is a retired health and physical education teacher.  He is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, where is attended Maplewood High School and graduated in 1972.  He was an All-City and All-State high school basketball player and earned a basketball scholarship to Florida Southern College and graduated in 1976.  He received his Master\u2019s degree at Trevecca University in Nashville.  In Tennessee, he coached boys basketball at Harpeth High School and girls basketball at Stratford High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After moving to Dayton, Ohio, Peter began teaching in 1997 at E. J. Brown Elementary School.  He also coached girls basketball at Belmont High School.  In 1998, Peter transferred to Dunbar High School, teaching health and physical education.  He coached the Lady Wolverines basketball teams to six Dayton City League Championships, going undefeated in city league competition all six years.  His teams finished the six-year reign with a 109-29 record, one District Championship, and a Regional Runner-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter became head boys basketball coach at Dunbar High School in 2004, and in the same year, the team competed in the Ohio State Championship semi-finals.  The team subsequently won the Division II Boys Basketball State Championships four times in 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2012.  The team went undefeated in 2012; 28-0.  His teams were in the Final Four six times during his thirteen-year coaching tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognized for his leadership ability and coaching prowess, Peter was named League Coach of the Year sixteen times, District 15 Coach of the Year twice, and Area Coach of the Year three times.  He also coached Ohio\u2019s North\/South All-Star game in 2008.  His overall coaching record in Ohio is 402-101.  Peter has coached such notable basketball talents as Daequan Cook, first draft pick of the NBA Miami Heat and Norris Cole II former first-round draft pick of the Miami Heat, and numerous outstanding college Division I players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extending himself throughout the community, Peter is prominent in organizing programs for the academic, physical, and social growth and development of young people.  He is greatly admired for his contributions in the Miami Valley.  He resides in Trotwood, Ohio with his beautiful, loving, and supportive wife Shawn of sixteen years.  Peter is currently assistant boys basketball coach at Middletown High School (Ohio).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
